Gauge Snubbers

Gauge Snubbers

8638

AS-Schneider Gauge Snubbers are used to improve the output or readability of the instrument, and to reduce the effect of pressure surges on the instrument. They also limit the external discharge of the pressure medium, in the event, a discontinuity should occur on the instrument side of the snubber. Closing the valve increases the dampening action. The max. allowable (Working) Pressure (PS) is 400 bar (5,801 psi), the max. allowable Temperature (TS) is 120°C (248°F).

Gauge Protectors

Gauge Protectors

8641

AS-Schneider Gauge Protectors are used to protect pressure-sensing instruments against damage, loss of accuracy, and/or rupture in the event of excessive system pressure. The piston assembly works against an adjustable spring. The piston assembly contains a sealing mechanism to isolate system pressure from the instrument. The Inlet to Outlet seal is an O-Ring, the sealing to the atmosphere is realized by either another O-Ring (system pressures of more than 2 bar/29 psi) or a diaphragm (for system pressures 0.4 up to 2.5 bar/5.8 up to 36.3 psi). As system pressure overcomes the force of the spring, the piston moves, causing the sealing system to close. The outlet side is now isolated from increasing system pressure and the instrument is protected. As system pressure drops to the reopening pressure (25% below the closing pressure), the valve opens again. The max. allowable (Working) Pressure (PS) is 600 bar (8,702 psi), the max. allowable Temperature (TS) is 80°C (176°F), resp. 60°C (140°F) for our DVGW approved types S005.50.001.00DV / 201.00DV.

Pressure gauge cock, snubbers, and protectors for instrument safety and longevity

A pressure gauge cock is used to control and isolate pressure measuring instruments within industrial and marine process systems. A pressure gauge cock allows operators to vent, isolate, or expose a connected pressure gauge depending on the position of the handle. By selecting the appropriate position, the pressure gauge cock can place the instrument in a pressure free state, allow normal operation under system pressure, or release the medium in a controlled blow off position.

The primary function of a pressure gauge cock is to protect and manage the connection between the pressure gauge and the process medium. A pressure gauge cock can isolate the instrument from the system during maintenance, calibration, or inspection without removing the gauge. In applications with continuously pulsating pressure, the use of a pressure gauge cock helps reduce stress on the instrument and supports longer service life.

In addition to a pressure gauge cock, pressure gauge snubbers are used to protect instruments against pressure pulsations and sudden pressure surges. A pressure gauge snubber is adjustable and can be configured to suit specific operating conditions. By damping rapid pressure fluctuations, snubbers improve reading stability and measurement accuracy while extending the operational life of pressure gauges. These devices are particularly useful in systems involving compressors, steam engines, hydraulic presses, and other equipment that generates pressure spikes.

Gauge protectors provide an additional level of protection for pressure measuring instruments. Gauge protectors are designed to shield instruments from excessive system pressure that could cause loss of accuracy, damage, or rupture. The internal piston assembly works against an adjustable spring and incorporates a sealing mechanism that isolates system pressure from the instrument when limits are exceeded. This protection ensures reliable performance and safeguards sensitive measurement components.

Vytl Controls supplies pressure gauge cock assemblies, pressure gauge snubbers, and gauge protectors designed for use in demanding industrial, offshore, and marine environments. These components support safe operation, improved measurement stability, and long term reliability of pressure measuring instruments.

Through proper selection and integration of a pressure gauge cock and related protective devices, operators can maintain instrument accuracy, reduce maintenance requirements, and protect critical pressure measurement systems under challenging operating conditions.
