Calibration Gas Cylinder Recycler

Calibration Gas Cylinder Recycler

7381

The Air Products calibration gas cylinder recycler tool allows used non-refillable cylinders to be punctured and safely recycled. In the European Union, punctured non-refillable cylinders can be recycled through the regular waste stream as nonhazardous. Outside of the European Union, the relevant local authority should be consulted. Once punctured, non-refillable cylinders no longer need to be transported as dangerous goods, which reduces transport costs. Instructions and safety precautions Safety glasses should be worn at all times when using the recycler. Before puncturing, the cylinder must be empty. It is recommended that EIGA IGC document 30 Disposal of Gases is followed before puncturing. The operator should be familiar with the properties of the gas as described on the safety data sheet, paying particular attention to safety and environmental data. The tool should be fixed to a stable surface using two M6 bolts (not supplied). Place the empty cylinder centrally in the recycler tool and wind the handle slowly clockwise until the bottle is fully pierced. As a precautionary measure, it is advisable to carry this out in well-ventilated area such as a fume cupboard or outdoors. The handle should now be wound slowly anti-clockwise to release the cylinder from the tool. The cylinder can then be recycled or disposed of by the preferred method.

Gas detection accessories for safe and reliable system support

Gas detection accessories are essential for ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant operation of portable and fixed gas detection systems. Properly selected gas detection accessories support calibration procedures, gas sampling, system installation, and safe handling of calibration cylinders in industrial, marine, and offshore environments.

Gas detection accessories include components that regulate, control, and manage calibration gas flow during testing and maintenance. Demand flow and fixed flow regulators are used to deliver calibration gas at a controlled rate to gas detectors, ensuring accurate span and bump testing procedures. These gas detection accessories are critical for maintaining reliable detector performance and meeting regulatory requirements.

For applications where gas samples must be collected in confined or hard to reach areas, gas detection accessories such as gas sampling bags provide a practical solution. Sampling bags allow operators to safely capture gas samples for later analysis or verification without exposing personnel to unnecessary risk.

Gas detection accessories also support responsible cylinder management. After calibration procedures are completed, calibration gas cylinders can be handled and recycled in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines. Proper use of cylinder recycling solutions ensures safe disposal and contributes to sustainable operational practices.
